Members of the Woman's Committee on Weeklies and Magazines

Description

When the World’s Columbian Exposition was held in Chicago in 1893, a World’s Congress Auxiliary was formed to manage the exposition. Many committees and subcommittees were formed to overview all potential gatherings within the city. One of the committees formed was one of women to produce weeklies and magazines, in which Myra Bradwell served as vice-chairman.
To hold the World’s Columbian Exposition was a major achievement that could make or break a city’s economic, political, and social atmosphere. This position shows that Bradwell’s press skills were recognized and highly respected within Chicago. Bradwell’s numerous committee involvement within Chicago at the time also demonstrates her commitment to the progression of her community.
