Description

When the World’s Columbian Exposition was held in Chicago in 1893, a World’s Congress auxiliary was formed to manage the exposition. Many committees and subcommittees were formed to overview all potential gatherings within the city.
This is a call from the Illinois Woman’s Press Association to welcome all press women during the World’s Congress Auxiliary conference in 1893. As highlighted on the paper, Myra Bradwell served on the committee since she was the owner and editor of the Chicago Legal News. For a married woman to own and manage her own business at this time was quite the accomplishment.
Like with her Supreme Court case, Bradwell joined committees such as the Illinois Woman’s Press Association to ensure that other women in the press business could also succeed even in local community.
