Description

When the World’s Columbian Exposition was held in Chicago in 1893, a World’s Congress auxiliary was formed to manage the exposition. Many committees and subcommittees were formed to overview all potential gatherings within the city that were separated into working gender groups. Myra Bradwell and her daughter served as Chairman and Vice-Chairman on the committee for government reform.
To hold the World’s Columbian Exposition was a major achievement that could make or break a city’s economic, political, and social atmosphere. This position shows that Bradwell’s political skill were recognized and highly respected. Bradwell’s numerous committee involvement within Chicago at the time also demonstrates her commitment to the progression of her community.
