Subject

Reporting on the National Women Suffrage Convention

Description

This article covers the convention of the National Women Suffrage Association. This was before the suffrage movement split into two factions over the Fifteenth Amendment, which granted black men but not women the right to vote.
Two important things stand out in terms of the activism of Myra Bradwell from this article. First, Myra Bradwell was elected secretary in 1869, showing her early and prominent career within the suffrage movement. Second, her husband Jame Bradwell, was elected chairman of the organization. This demonstrates James Bradwell’s devotion to his wife’s activism. Not only did he aid his wife’s law studies, but he also served within the suffrage movement with her.
Myra Bradwell’s activism career cannot be understood without seeing the support of her husband.
