Title
Women's Equal Employment Law
Subject
Illinois Equal Employment law
Description
Bradwell printed the Equal Employment Law that she crafted and passed through the Illinois State Legislator. Interestingly, this legislation was ratified even before the Unites States Supreme Court had decided on her case.
By lobbying the political realm of her community while simultaneously challenging the legal system, one can see how Bradwell worked tirelessly in many spheres to secure rights for women.
The law states: “Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly,That no person shall be precluded or debarred from any occupation, profession or employment (except military) on account of sex; Provided, that this act shall not be construed to affect the eligibility of any person to an elective Office.”
